Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 18: A deputation of selected Jail Warden led by Ashwani Kumar, Jaffar Javed Bhat, Lalita Manhas, Sunny Gupta and others today called on the BJP National Executive Member and J&K Chief Spokesperson Dr. Jitendra Singh and submitted a memorandum him. After giving them a patient hearing, Dr. Jitendra Singh assured them of full support and said, this is a strange contradiction that on the one hand the NC led coalition Government claims of creating new jobs for the unemployed youth, on the other hand, the candidates who have already been short listed for the posts of Jail Warden, are not being issued final selection orders for reasons best known to the Government. Dr. Singh referred to alarming rise in the rate of unemployment which has increased manifold during the present Government regime adding that there are today over seven lakh youth awaiting employment inspite of the much publicized new employment policy and fast recruitment plans. Expressing concern over undue delay in appointment of Jail Wardens, Dr. Jitendra Singh recalled that the advertisement for these posts was issued way back in 2005 and after five years, in 2010-11, it was intimated that 1247 out of 41,182 candidates had qualified the interview but till date, the final selection list has not been released. Further, to rub salt on the wounds of aggrieved candidates, in a reply to a question in the current session of State Legislative Assembly, the Government has stated that the short listing process for these posts had not been conducted in accordance with prescribed rules/norms, said Dr. Jitendra Singh and added that even if this is true, the onus of responsibility lies on the Government and not on these poor candidates who cannot be allowed to suffer for no fault of theirs. |
