| AAP impact in Uri, Raja Aijaz leads from front | | | Mustansir
Srinagar, Feb18: As the elections to the state assembly draw nearer, emergence of new faces and forces on the political horizon is gaining momentum. And it is the border town Uri wherefrom the new faces have taken a lead in showing their strength which has for sure overshadowing the old horses like Muhammad Shafi Uri and Taj Mohiuddin. Though the Aam Aadmi movement of Delhi is likely to have an impact on Kashmir electoral politics , however, the people in border town of Uri are craving for a change- a positive change to end the decade old monopoly of the grand old political parties. Understandably it is Uri followed by Bijbehara in South Kashmir where people in large numbers have been craving for a change by defeating the conventional political forces. In Uri former Inspector General of Police, Raja Aijaz Ali is undoubtedly doing good and has been successfully leading the people for change. Raja held a massive rally purely of youth of the Uri constituency today in which he hit out at Minister for Health and Medical Education, Taj Mohiudin and former minister and MP, Muhammad Shafi Uri for the miserable plight of the people of this border area. Accusing Taj of being involved in corrupt practices, he appealed the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, to initiate a probe into the charges against Taj. " I appeal the Chief Minister to initiate criminal probe against the Minister (Taj Mohiuddin) lest people get an impression that all is being done under his patronage. I also request Rahul Gandhi to kindly stand by his resolve and ensure that tainted persons are not repeated in Uri constituency," said Raja Aijaz. "Taj Mohi-ud-Din who happens to be an outsider has played with sentiments of youth here by promising them employment, but mischievously denying same in spite of the facts that he had absorbed 26000 youth into PHE, Irrigation and Flood & Control from various areas of the state except Uri," Said Raja. Raja also accused former MLA Uri Muhammad Shafi Uri of neglecting development of the constituency. "He (Muhammad Shafi Uri is responsible for lopsided recruitment in services and mal-treatment to the innocent population of Uri for 30 years which forced them to bring an outsider from Kathua and elect him as MLA," Said Raja. |
