| New 'emergency block' at SDH Mendher still in doldrums | | | Early Times Report
Mendher, Feb 18: Financial crunch which has badly affected almost various development projects across the state but the ongoing new emergency block at Sub Division Hospital (SDH) Mendher left in halfway not only has become an example of apathy but also has eluded the better patient care in the mendher and its surroundings of border district Poonch.
According to sources the M/s V V Construction Company has stopped work on the said project projects because of financial crunch. They said that the project was estimated at the cost of Rs 4.08 Crore and Rs 1.8 Crore were allocated initially for the ongoing project to prove better healthcare in Mendher and its adjoining villages.
Lamenting that the ambitious healthcare project which was started in few years ago after locals complained about poor healthcares in Mendher, sources said, and added, " though the work on this projects started with good pace initially but later the things slowed down.'
Like other locals, the contractor Hamid Mahir also lamented that he was only paid that Rs 68 lakh till date which has compelled him to stop the work in halfway. While locals are taking this issue to the every sphere and are running from pillar to post for getting this project to see the light, on the other hand the district administration too have seemed to be ineffective and helpless courtesy the 'financial crunch.'
Both the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Poonch Ajaz Khan and the Dr Mumtaz Bhatti Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Poonch evading the issue briefly said that the project is in halfway due to the financial constraints and hoped as soon as the financial assistance is released the work will re-started and will become a reality giving a fillip to the healthcare in Mendher. |
