Jammu, Feb 18: Jammu and Kashmir Kisan Tehreek (JKKT) today staged a day long Dharna in front of Division Commissioner Office Jammu in support of their long pending demands including implementation of Crop Insurance Scheme and providing of agriculture loan on 4% interest as recommended by the Swaminathan Commission. Activists of JKKT under leadership of its president Kishore Kumar assembled at Div Com Office and raised slogans against the government for not conceding the genuine demands farmers. While addressing the dharna, Kishore Kumar said that farming community across the state has been undergoing adverse hardships on absence of entitled concessions due to the community. He highlighted the demands including procurement of agriculture produce on the basis of double the cost of production, exemption of electricity charges, abiana for only three months during irrigation facilities, subsidized agricultural inputs including fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides and tools/ equipments, providing of irrigation facilities from Ranbir Canal in time, providng of fertilizers through co-operative and in time and early disposal of files having depoited levy under vesting of ownership of state land under Rashni Act 2007. Among others who present on the occasion included Sham Prasad Kesar, Sohan Lal and Banarasi Dass. Meanwhile, JKKT Kashmir wing held a strong protest demonstration at Partap Park in Srinagar against price rice, faulty PDS, non-implementation of crop insurance scheme, dismal performance of Kisan Credit Card Scheme, erratic power supply and spurious fertilizers and pesticides. |
