Data falsify Govt claims on power generation
11283 MW hydro potential of Doda Region untapped

Jammu, Feb 18: While the estimated hydro power potential of Jammu and Kashmir is 20,000 MW, Doda region alone has a potential of 11283 Mega Watt (MW) making the region a power mine of the Himalayan region. Though so far only 16475 MW has been identified by different consultants but so far just few hundred MWs have been added to the power Grid of the State. As per the Government data different hydro power Project under construction in Doda region includes Baglihar (450 MW) Hydro Power Project (HEP) is under execution with scheduled commissioning in August 2015. Rattle (850 MW) HEP has been under construction of IPP, according to the data various Power Project constructed which involved Lower Kalnai-I (48 MW) HEP-Bidding process has been completed and BoD, JKSPDC has recommended award of contract to successful bidder, on the other side project Kirthai-II (930 MW) HEP constructed under by CEA and RfQ, Ranjala Dunadi (15 MW) HEP is another power project on lower Kalnai Nallah under the IPP. The details of the work related Pakal Dul (1000 MW) HEP and Kiru (600 MW) JEP has been tendered out by Joint Venture Company with the help of Chenab Valley Power Projects Private Limited. In same case Kawar (520 MW) HEP-DPR under the CEA for TEC by the Joint Venture Company through the Chenab Valley Power Projects Private Limited. While Bursar (1020 MW) HEP- The DPR under the Central Limited. The bidding process of 21 MW Patnazi Bunjwahin, has been completed in the hands of IPP The place for the work has been selected for the preparation of hydro power project under the joint venture. Officials said that Government of J&K introduced various steps for improving power infrastructure and reduced power crises in the State; most of the people in J&K face many problems due to the power cuts. In examination time students suffer due to the bad supply of Power and not read properly. Whole Jammu and Kashmir are affected Specially in Summer time. To reduce all these problems government constructed hydro power project under various schemes.
