ET Report Vijaypur, Feb 18: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh today appealed coalition regime led by Omar Abdullah that they should not delay package of refugees/displaced persons and shall send case of refugees to New Delhi for redressal. "The Government should not sit on the files of the package for the refugees/displaced persons and send the proposal for package to the Government of India," Manjit Singh demanded while addressing public meetings at Trindi Camp and Shekhu Pura. He said that already the matter has been delayed and further lingering of the issue should be avoided since the people who have been victims of wars between India and Pakistan. "The UPA Government has already shown positive response by assuring that it would release the compensation for the displaced persons/refugees then why the files being delayed and not being send to Delhi," the former Minister said. He said, the Revenue Minister of State has done his exercise over the issue and now there should be no delay in the process. He said that the people need to be given tenancy right on the lands they are holding. |
