| Ex serviceman opens fire, kills one over land feud | | | ET Report Rajouri , Feb 18:One person was killed and another was injured when two families clashed over land feud in village Manjidhara falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Rajouri here this morning, police sources said . Police have detained six family members of the assaulter for questioning while main accused too has been arrested. Police sources said that over the dispute and in a fit of rage an ex- serviceman had opened fire on his two cousins and in the incident one was killed while another received serious injuries and was admitted in the district hospital. Sources said that Abdul Qayoom s/o Dil Mohammad an ex-serviceman resident of Manjidhara village had a land dispute with his uncle Baza for the last few years. "At about 10 am on Tuesday Mohd Sadeeq and Mohd Aslam sons of Baja were working in their fields adjoining to the land belong to Abdul Qayoom. Abdul Qayoom objected action of his two cousins i.e. collecting of fodder from his field, sources said, adding, "after hot arguments the two sides scuffled and the incidents took ugly turn when ex-serviceman opened fire from his licensed 12 bore gun killing Mohd Sadeeq on the spot and injuring Aslam. The matter was later brought in the notice of police and a police party headed by Sub inspector Shrief, Rajouri P/P in-charge, rushed to the village. After legal formalities police brought the body to district hospital for postmortem. Meanwhile police also picked up family members of ex-serviceman including Dil Mohd (father) , Bashira Begam(mother), Shabir Ahmed (brother), Parveen Akhter (daughter), Shokat (son) and a villager Mohd Shabir. "Police also have seized the weapon of offence who was arrested after hectic efforts by the policemen. A case in this regard under sections 302 and 307 RPC stands registered at concerned police station. |
