Jammu, Feb 18 : Hundreds of members of teacher's community under the banner of Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) led by their chairman AQ Wani and general secretary Ganesh Khajuria held protest demonstration today in the premises of Directorate of School Education to protest against the rampant corruption prevailing in the Education Department. A large number of teachers from entire Jammu province participated in the protest and raised slogans against the callous and anti teachers approach of the Education authorities. While speaking on the occasion, the speakers criticized the government for turning a deaf ear toward the reddressal of their problems being confronted by them. They warned the government to desist from harassing the teaching fraternity by not framing the rational transfer policy and adopting the pick and choose policy in transfer of teachers/masters/lecturers/headmasters. They added that corrupt practices adopted by the education department have demoralized the entire teaching community as the department is in a state of mess. The demands which were highlighted by the speakers included repatriation of Masters of Kathua and Jammu District serving in district of Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar, adjustment of newly promoted headmasters, removal of pay anomaly, DPC of class IV employees and other demands. They warned the government to intensify their agitation in case their demands are not met with by February 25, 2014.Prominent among those who addressed the gathering were AQ Wani, Ganesh Khajuria, Manzoor Bhat, Rajinder Gupta, Satish Dutta, Kuldeep Singh, Ramprasad, Vinod Sharma, Yog Raj Slathia, Amarnath Thakur, Jamat Ali Agajh, Surat Singh, GRS Bhat and Deepak Kumar. |
