| In the name of nationalism tainted DD officials make hay | | | Javaid Naikoo SRINAGAR, Feb 25: Amid accusations of money swindling and nepotism, political patronage does things for tainted officials. Despite complaints of money swindling against the Joint Director Regional news unit Srinagar through creation of fake accounts in the name of shooting and broadcasting current affairs programmes by the employees working within DD Srinagar at Prasar Bharti DD news New Delhi. However as per sources till date no action was taken against a group of officials headed by the joint director as these officials wearing the cloak of nationalism managed to stay immune from legal action. Among the series of complaints filed so far include one in the office of Vigilance Commissioner New Delhi titled as "Large scale Bunglings in RNU, DDK Srinagar" on 15/04/2011 with a content of requesting to initiate an inquiry in to the financial bunglings in RNU, DDK Srinagar since 2005 to 2011 and inquiry in fake accounts created for programmes like "SADHBAWNA, SACH TO YE HAI, HUM BI MHUN MAI ZUBAAN RAKHTE HAI, SARGAMIYAN HAFTA RAFTA" to grab huge chunk of money and another complaints against Joint director send to the Chief Vigilance Commissioner, CVC New Delhi dated 23/12/2012 from Srinagar by one employee and despite an inquiry report subjected as "inquiry in to the allegation of irregularities in production of current affairs programme by RNU, DDK Srinagar-reg" conducted by A.A Rao, then Additional Director general of Prasar Bharti in early 2012 mentioning that "Most of addresses furnished in handwriting are incomplete and their account numbers not furnished so as their bank accounts, the list payees indicate the services provided by them for conducting current affairs programmes, thereby making task of verification of geninuneness of payments difficult, head office did not categorically deny any irregularity in the alleged fictitious payments in the name of Ms Shazia Mir" and Rao while concluding is report also mentioned that "Prima facie there is merit in complaints of irregularities in production of current affairs programmes by DDK Srinagar." No action was taken against anybody so far. It does not stop here, the prestigious institute despite being in news headlines for making DDK Srinagar a den of non professionals in which as per document details in possession of Early Times around 40 Government employees working in different Government sectors mostly as teachers are often preferred at the time of contractual appointments and are allowed to work as anchors, correspondents, news readers and script writers, however according to sources everything is happening in the knowledge of few highly placed officials who are motivated by these tainted officials after using their political influence.
