JAMMU, Feb 25: Coalition Government's transparency and accountability claims have been exposed from a reply, it has tabled in the upper house of legislators regarding tainted officers wherein it has described promotions to them in the interest of administration and not 'Plum postings'.
MLC Mohammad Muzzafar Parray in a question wanted to know about whether some tainted officers have been given plum and prized postings in the Secretariat to which the Government has answered that the officers against whom prosecution has been sanctioned and challaned in the Courts of law are, sometimes, given postings, including in Secretariat, in the interest of administration, but there is no categorization of posts as plum or prized in the administration and postings are ordered in the interest of administration, based on merits.
Further, in the reply, in majority of the cases, the Government has avoided providing the present position, these officers are holding and have just given the details of their positions when cases were filed against them in their respective departments.
According to the reply, 61 officers (Gazzeted) who have served or are serving in different Departments, including the Civil Secretariat, have been prosecuted by the Government during the last three years. Again six officers have been found guilty by the courts of law and punished during the last three years.
