| Successive Govts’ justice delivery system Ministers fail to fulfil promises | | | K Koushal JAMMU, Feb 25: See the justice delivery system in the successive government, that too sought by public representatives that assurances given by the Ministers on the floor of the house, about 7 to 8 years back are still awaiting redressal regarding different issues highlighted by MLAs/MLCs pertaining to Home Department. Irony! For the successive Governments with ruling NC led coalition is that in between the period some of the MLAs/MLCs who sought information from Home Department regarding different issues have lost their seats while some others regained with inducting into current Council of Ministers but the Home Department showing a casual approach towards the assurances it has given on the floor of the House has failed to fulfil its own promises. Gauge the non-seriousness from the fact that, in the details provided in the report, first inquiry was sought by MY Tarigami dated March 2, 2006 regarding investigation of killing of a labourer and injury to 39 others in indiscriminate firing by police on striking workers of Banihal Railway Project in September 2004 and action taken against the official held responsible for the lapse and compensation to the victims, and if not the reasons causing delay in this regard and last question the steps being taken for setting up of a police station at Litter in Pulwama on November 1, 2013 by Mohammad Khalil Band with 55 similar inquiries awaiting redressal till date. According to Committee on Government Assurances tabled on the floor of the house today revealed that 57 inquiries included militancy related incidents, establishments of police posts, police stations and Fire Fighting stations, enhancement of honorarium of SPOs and VDCs, grievances of police personnel, police recruitment drives etc. are still under consideration, showing non seriousness of the department to complete the inquiries in a time bound manner. |
