Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 25: Public Awareness Front (PAF) Kishtwar today resented the delaying in construction of Airstrip at Kishtwar the ambitious project entrusted to National Hydro Power Project (NHPC). Shakir Sidiqui, President, Public Awareness Forum Kishtwar while addressing a press conference said, "NHPC is earning crores of rupees from power projects in Jammu and Kashmir, but it has doled nominal share to the state government in return." "After 390 MW Dool-Hasti Power Project, NHPC has 1000 MW Pakal-Dool Power Project in its kitty, beside having share of over 3000 MW under various joint venture projects, he said and added that despite being a major share holders in state power projects, NHPC is moving at slow pace towards construction of Kishtwar airstrip despite its promise for the same few years ago. He said that they have also submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar over the issue of construction of Kishtwar airport an estimated cost of Rs 90 Crore for which NHPC has already agreed in principal. He urged upon the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar to ask the General Manager NHPC to start the work on said Airport, that is proposed to be set up in Kishtwar at the earliest. He also alleged that both Centre and State government is ignoring Kishtwar District in all spheres of development and expressed dissatisfaction for the criminal silence of all the public representatives of Kishtwar for not raising the issues of injustice with Kishtwar in the assembly.
