| Bill on Shrines and Religious Places may be passed in LA | | | Sandeep Bhat
Jammu, Mar 3 : Sustained struggle of Kashmiri Hindus may finally bear fruits as on the last day of budget session, govt may pass the Kashmiri Hindu Shrines and Religious places bill in its original form. As per sources, a continuous struggle had been launched by various Kashmiri organizations particularly Prem Nath Bhat Memorial committee for passage of this bill which will ensure protection and better management of shrines, temples, ashrams, mutths and other religious places in valley which after the mass exodus.of KPs from Kashmir valley in 1990 were in shambles. Durganag Trust and many others took responsibility of attending to these places but some people who were hand in glove with land Mafia and encroachers sold hundreds of kanals of land belonging to these temples and shrines. In order to protect the remaining land and shrines from these encrochers, a piece of legislation was need of the hour so that it could protect, safeguard and manage these shrines and temples on the pattern of Wakf Board. Some legislators of Jammu had expressed reservation on passage of this bill but Kashmir based MLAs are supporting it in its original form cutting across party lines. It is pertinent to mention here that Early Times had indicated passage of the Bill during current session. Talking to Early Times, Minister for law justice and parliamentary affairs Mir Saifullah reteirated Government's commitment to the passage of this bill in its original form which is a long pending demand of Kashmiri Pandits. |
