JAMMU, Mar 3: In what can be seen as inevitable happening in some quarters of state unit of BJP, a handful of senior leaders are these days busy in a negative campaign against the candidates announced by central leadership for two Parliamentary seats of Jammu province. Apart from what is being seen as spreading 'misinformation', the propaganda machinery is also being stepped up through social media seeking this to reach out to high command. Instead of pushing the party ahead in poll mode, these leaders through such activities have only sent the workers into a resentful mood.
Sources said as the decision of high command has not augured well for a set of leaders who are senior most in hierarchy of state unit, instead of accepting it as final word from the leadership have taken a negative recourse albeit choosing not to confront them directly. Sources said they have started using the propaganda machinery much to the disadvantage of the party as this activity is widely within the party being seen as only fulfilling their self interests and discouraging the cadres and workers from gaining momentum for the polls. Sources further said apart from spreading misinformation through word of mouth at various levels in seeking to express displeasure over choice of candidates, these leaders are using face book and SMSes through different numbers to expedite propaganda machinery with content that suggests the candidates were not acceptable for the party rank and file across the state.
However, this is not yielding desired results to them, sources said adding that on the contrary their acts are being seen as amounting to anti party activities by the workers with conviction who contest it as duplicty and contradictory approach of such leaders. For one they are asking even if the choice of the candidates was not right for whatever reasons, it was mandatory for the entire unit to accept and honour the decision of the high command, something which these leaders would only reiterate when they used to be at the helm of affairs in the state unit, sources added. Workers at different quarters are asking if this was the yardstick so followed by these leaders when they led the state unit in various capacities, why a similar approach is not being adopted this time in terms of honouring the decision of the high command.
Sources also said the workers and cadres are being provoked with messages like many leaders would soon quit the party and join AAP....., the state unit is going to witness fissures and factions soon...., and many more such canards . However, this is causing a reverse impact as these acts are causing resentment among the rank and file of party against the group of leaders, sources said, adding that the complaints may reach the high command if stop is not put to such things. |
