SMVDU has only 25 placements to its credit | Desperate students seek VC's intervention | | Sumit Sharma Jammu, Mar 3: The future of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) in general and students of the institution in particular is at stake as contrary to its claim SMVDU fails to provide the placement to the latter. As per sources, the resentment galore among the students as SMVDU fails to come up with its wordings. The assurance filled balloon of the institution deflated when students registering protest with the Vice Chancellor apprised him that only 25 placements have taken place since the formation of the institution. As per grievances lodged by the students of 8th semester, School of Electronics and Communication Engineering, the opening rankers are enrolled in this institution to get better placement, but the future seems bleak and scary as the placement exercise seems to be futile which puts career of thousands of students at stake. "Many students are studying here on loan and have worked hard to excel both in academics and research, but still they did not have a scope to sit for placements. Isn't that enough to feel the gravity of the problem?. Respected V.C sir, this is not reprimand form our side, we just want a positive immediate action from your side" To hide the defame, the students are asked to go for placement drives at CGC Chandigarh. Further, the T&P office giving lollypop to the students embedded the list of 25 companies at the office's door which are about to come for placements, but till now, no company has launched its drive even though, the wordings on the list have faded out. On October 2013, a committee was formed to design the placement broacher for 2014 and student coordinators put their heart and soul for that but amazingly till now it has not been printed, let sending it to companies be a distant dream. The miseries of the students do not end here. Though the students pay fees of Rs 5000 for career counseling to the university but still they are asked to borne the cost of the conference halls if any company decides to launch campus drive for SMVDU. The students are forced to bear the cost on the plea that PRO office in Jammu has not enough space. However, a professor in SMVDU said that acting swiftly, SMVDU VC Dr Sudhir Kumar Jain summoned the concerned officer to clear his position, but in reply, he said that the Udaan- a venture by government, has left a dent for the institution as most of the students are outsiders hence not eligible for enrollment. Sources further said that the VC has taken the matter to the Chancellor to intervene to protect the integrity of the institution. |
