| BAJ takes serious note of Govt's attempt to change name of Bahu Fort | | | Et Report Jammu, Mar 3 : J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu (BAJ) took serious note of the Government for attempting to change the name of Bahu Fort and called upon the state authorities particularly to Tourism Department to desist from giving another name to the Bahu Colony which is situated near the Historical Bahu Fort. During a meeting of the office bearers of the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu which was presided over by its President Sr Adv M K Bhardwaj in which the attempt of the State Government of changing the names of Historical and Heritage sites of the three regions of the state i.e. Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh was strongly condemned and deprecated. BAJ called upon the state authorities particularly Tourism Department to desist from giving another name to the Bahu Colony which is situated near the Historical Bahu Fort. "The word "Bahu" which finds its mention in the revenue records of the area and Historical books of the state has its immense importance, the members observed and underlined, "any attempt to fiddle with the Historical and Heritage places or their names would be viewed very seriously, as the sentiments of people of respective areas are attached with them." |
