| PC challenges NC in CM's home constituency | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Mar 3: After Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peoples Conference (PC) is posing a formidable challenge to ruling National Conference (NC) in Kashmir Valley. To take on the ruling NC, PC has launched a vociferous campaign against the NC from the home constituency of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah. To outwit NC in its traditional constituency, PC leader and district coordinator, Ganderbal district Mir Ghulam Rasool organized a workers conference in Butwani area today in which hundreds of Party activists drawn from different blocks of participated. The conference held the NC and Congress coalition responsible for the miseries of the people of the State and appealed the people not to fall in their trap again and reject them at hustling. Addressing the Party men Mir Ghulam Rasool alleged that the NC leaders who represented the Ganderbal Constituency for maximum time failed to develop its rural belt and the people in various areas of the Constituency still san the basic amenities of life. Terming all claims of NC-Congress coalition regarding development of the State totally hollow, Mir said the wrong policies of the two parties forced the youth to take to arms. He said the dynastic rule was the main cause of public resentment in the Valley as few dynasties in Kashmir amassed huge wealth by looting the funds received from time to time. He demanded a probe to ascertain where the funds have gone. Mir asked the people to get united under the leadership of Sajjad Gani Lone to rid the State from present mess, dynastic rule, corruption and mal administration that has been the cause of sufferings of the people in the State. He said the Ganderbal belt has huge natural resources especially power potential but the same was not tapped by the Government properly. The USHP State II, Kangan is not functioning properly and no headway has been made in construction of Ganderbal second, though huge funds have been sanctioned for the project. He said an era of change has begun in the State and the people have decided to teach all those parties a lesson who exploited their sentiments for their vested political interests for years together. Peoples Conference Vice Chairman, Dr Mohammed Kamal Malik while making a dig at NC leadership alleged that the party was befooling the people for its vested political interests. He said people in various parts of Ganderbal live in abject poverty and when the Chief Minister could not develop his own Constituency how can the people in other parts of the State expect a better deal from him. PC secretary Mohammed Suliman Bhat , Bilal Aarizoo and Qamam -ud-Din Shilvati were among other leaders who addressed the convention. |
