| Ramakrishna Mahasammelan Ashram Trust organizes Book Release function | | History should not be distorted: Dr R L Bhat | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 28: Veteran freelancer and a well known scholar Dr. R L Bhat today expressed grave concern over distorting of history in Kashmir by the historians in medieval period. Presenting his paper during the release of Dr.K N Pandita's translation of book Tohfatul Ahbab, A Persian historical biography of Mir Shamus's Din Araki, here today. Dr Bhat said that history should be presented in right perspective and not by distorting factsas has been done by some Kashmiri historians. The book was released at a decent and impressive function organised by Bhagwan Shri Ramakrishna Mahasammelan Ashram Trust, Nagdandi, Anantnag, in collaboration with Asian-Eurasian Human Rights Forum, at the Press Club, Jammu. Galaxy of town's literati came together to witness the release function of two books sponsored by the Trust. Books were released by Dr M K Teng, author of a number of books and a renowned political thinker. An Iranian missionary of Nurbakhshiya order of Sufis, Mir Shamus's Din Araki visited Kashmir twice during his life time. This biography was written in late 16th century. Speaking about the work, Dr K N Pandita said that Farsi manuscript copies of this medieval period history, though of much importance from its historical content, are generally defective in the sense that in the manuscripts preserved either in the State research library or other libraries in the countries including those existing in private collection have been found with the first and the last chapters completely missing. Why has it been so remains mystery? However, Dr Pandita succeeded in obtaining a complete and authentic copy of manuscript from the private library of a teacher in Skardu in PoK. After comparing and collating it with other manuscripts he was able to establish a master copy. With his rare scholarship Dr. Pandita worked hard on it and brought out its English translation adding exhaustive annotations and references to make it a treasure of newly discovered historical material on Kashmir. On the face of it this is the biography of Shamus's Din Araki, but actually it is the history of expansion of Nurbakhshiya Sufi order in Kashmir in the second half of 16th century. Voice of India New Delhi published the work in 2013 in collaboration with Shri Ramakrishna Mission Nagdandi. The second book released today was Pyarelal Kaul Badgami's "Kashmiri Pandit-Bujhte Charag". It's the first publication in Urdu language that gives a graphic picture of the rise of fundamentalism-terrorism in Kashmir in late 1989 and early 1990, and atrocities perpetrated on the religious minority community. The book occasionally carries factual story of individual cases of murder, arson and vandalising. It vividly describes the role of dubious political leadership of Kashmir hunting with the hound and running with the hare in the literal sense. It exposes the vicious designs at harassing, intimidating and expelling the frightened minority community as also the lip service extended to them by so called nationalist and secular entities. Managing Trustee, Prof. A.K. Ogra spoke at length about the cultural and academic activities of the trust in service of the nation. Earlier also two books were released by the trust in November last year. He also highlighted some of the programmes which he trust intents to undertake this year and the next. Prediman Raina conducted the proceedings while Col (Retd.) Yoginder Kandhari, secretary of the trust, read out the welcome address. Mr. Ashok Kachru moved a vote of thanks. |
