| Inquiry Committee proves allegations; indicted professor knocks door of court, SIC | | Paper leak scam surfaces in SMVDU | | Sumit Sharma JAMMU, Mar 28: A professor in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) has been accused of paper leak. After the incident came into the notice of the SMVDU authorities, an inquiry committee headed by Professor V. Verma, Dean college of Engineering, was constituted which submitted its report to Vice Chancellor of the university who in turn forwarded to the Chancellor for disposal of the same. Informed sources revealed that putting a blot on the face of SMVDU, one of its faculty members namely Dr Amit Sharma, Assistant Professor, school of architecture, landscape design, was charged of paper leak . After the incident, an inquiry was initiated which was completed on 31//5/2013 indicting him of his involvement in the scam. The inquiry report was dispatched to the Governor for approval and accordingly on 26/6/2013, a show cause proposed penalty of dismissal of the service was slapped on him. However, the Assistant Professor, whose dignity was in jeopardy, knocked the door of the court challenging the SMVDU authorities and accordingly a writ petition under the name and title Dr Amit v/s SMVDU having number 1501/2013 was filed in which court ordered status quo. The alleged paper scam took a new turn when the Assistant Professor, allegedly involved in paper leakage scam filed second appeal before State Information Commission, alleging that both the Registrar and PIO had given their own views and irrelevant explanation to mislead and escape from providing the correct information. Based on the complaint the Commission directed the PIO to specify whether any order in addition to the aforesaid order has been issued by the University in the case of the appellant. The aforesaid information may be provided to the information seeker within one week from receipt of this order under intimation to the Commission. Though the case is subjudice, but the incident attracted the attention of the Raj Bhawan about the misdeeds in SMVDU. |
