| ‘NC leaders surface during election times' | | | Shakeel A Khan BUDGAM, Mar 28: The leaders of National Conference are habitual of making presence on ground only when the election time approaches. The party leaders give credit to themselves for the development, if any. The National Conference leaders are nowhere to be found when people need them the most. They are busy in benefitting its party workers instead of providing pure governance to the masses in general. National Conference always makes tall claims that it is the only party which represents the aspirations of the people of the state. In its maiden rally for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections here few days back, NC party president Dr. Farooq Abdullah appealed the people to vote for candidates of National Conference as they were the only hope to serve the people with zeal and zest. This is despite the fact that during the last six years Dr. Abdullah has not visited any area of the district although he is the sitting MP. "The recent election rally was nothing but a call to NC party to wake up to another chance which will ensure that they make merry for five more years. These rallies give new lease of life to the opportunist NC workers. These are the soul igniting rallies for the mean workers," said a group of people of the district. A group of the people of Sebdan area said that it is the habit of NC`s stalwarts to frequent their constituencies at the election times more to please its own people than for the convenience of the common people. "It is history that the NC party starts its election campaign from the district Budgam headquarter since this is the area dominated by a particular community. This helps the party to send a message to the people of that community across the Valley in particular to motivate the voters," said a person nick named Punjabi from Nasrullahpora. Some of the youth of Soibugh village posed a question as to why does not Dr. Abdullah ever bother to visit this village. They said the area gives a look of primitive times. The youth said that NC leaders have not ever listened to the pathetic conditions of the village despite the fact that it is five kilometers drive from Srinagar. "The NC led Government seems to be taking avenge from this area. The road connectivity is poor, proper medical facilities are lacking and unhygienic drinking water is supplied to the people. This is despite the fact that Soibugh is the second most populous village of the Budgam district," said the youth. |
