| Congress on campaign trail, stalwarts indispensable for Jammu seats....! | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 28: Even as Congress campaign is gaining momentum fast with both the alliance partners National Conference and leaders of the party itself on rally organizing spree in far off areas of Jammu, the stalwarts from Delhi including incharge J&K affairs Ambika Soni are giving a miss to the electioneering process. As the poll fever is catching up fast, absence on the scene of rallies, road shows here in J&K is becoming conspicuous by the day. With Parliamentary polls having been announced in phases for various states, entire top hierarchy of the Congress party and almost all the leaders are themselves busy in their own constituencies, most of them also having been given tickets to contest on key seats. Sources within the party said post BJP's PM candidate Narender Modi's high voltage campaign two days back in Hiranagar in support of his party candidate, a strong yearning is felt among the cadres and workers for visit of leaders in the high command, as tall as Rahul Gandhi or Sonia Gandhi. However, this is nearly impossible as both are this time busy with preparedness of the party and taking care of poll related organisational matters. Besides, they have to focuss on their own seats wherefrom they are contesting LS polls which is why campaigning for Jammu seats by them is a far fetched possibility. The party is also finding the second leaders indispensable for visit to any other area including Ambika Soni as well since she too is pre occupied with the poll process and busy in campaign trail in Punjab at this point of time. Pertinently, Soni has been seen keeping herself at distance from the affairs of J&K for a long time even though she is supposed to be in charge of the entire state. Post her appointment as incharge of J&K by the party high command, Soni paid a couple of visits each to Kashmir Valley and Jammu and primarily took stock of the internal situation in the party, which was warranted in the backdrop of deep infighting and widening gulf between the two factions of J&K Congress. Soni took feedback of all matters last year and listened to functionaries from both the regions at a time when ties between the two allies had turned sour on account of certain issues. However, she did not visit state after that for along time and has been seen keeping away from many crucial matters pertaining to J&K, sources said, adding that as the culture goes in party, no one, not even seniormost leaders can ask reasons for her keeping away from J&K affairs.
