| As Jammuites remain indifferent, Sehgal fights a lone battle for justice | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 28: The people of Jammu are indifferent to the woes of former superintendent of Kot Bhalwal central jail, Rajni Sehgal who is being harassed by the officials. The former superintendent is without posting for the past 11 months and fights a lone battle for justice. Not even the people of Jammu have stood behind her when she needed them the most. Sehgal was made a scapegoat in the attack on Pakistani prisoner Sanaullah Ranjay, who was attacked by another inmate, Vinod Kumar on May 3, last year. Ranjay was attacked, after having scuffle with Kumar but it was seen internationally as a revenge of killing of Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh at Kot Lakhpat jail in Lahore. To save the face, the J&K Government suspended the jailor, Sehgal and ordered inquiry. During these 11 months, three inquiries have been ordered without following the procedure. Few days back, the Government ordered taking back the official accommodation of Sehgal but when court stayed the order, her staff was withdrawn. This is a clear case of injustice being followed with an honest police officer who dedicated her life for J&K police. She has dealt with different grade prisoners with justice and when the need was arrived, she dealt with the situation with iron hands. During service time, her enemies might have increased and taking back her official accommodation and staff is a risk. She might be facing threat to life and at this point of time, the Government must stand by her. But this is not happening and Government without any reason is harassing her. At this point of time, she needs support of people of Jammu and people must support her. |
