| 10 yrs RI, fine Rs 1 Lakh awarded to three narco smugglers | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 1 : Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Sanjay Gupta today awarded 10 years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and fine Rs 1 lakh each to three narcotics smuggler who were facing trial in NDPS Case. After hearing both sides, Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Sanjay Gupta observed that prosecution has succeeded and proved its case and convicted the accused.
While convicting the accused persons, Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Sanjay Gupta observed that drugs menace has ruined the society. Court further observed that all the offences under NDPS Act are heinous in nature and are required to be dealt with iron hard and with these observations Court awarded 10 years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and 1 Lakh fine each accused namely as Nazir Ahmed s/o Ali Mohammad of Digiana, Barkat Ali s/o Kirpa Ram of RS Pura and Amrik Singh s/o Gian Singh of R S Pura from whom possession 146.5 KG Bukhi was recovered. According to the police case that on September 24, 2010 during the checking at 5:30 AM at Muralian a truck coming from Satwari towards Miran Shahab was signalled to stop. During the search three sacks from tool box of the truck and two gunny bags from belongs the seat near driver, on opening and on checking bhuki weighing about more than 146 KG was found. A case u/s 8/20 (c) of NDPS Act was registered against accused and after completion of the investigation presented challan in the Court. (JNF) |
