Did Omar exonerate Modi? | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 1: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who continued as a Minister in the Vajpayee Government even after Gujarat riots said today that the people of the country had not exonerated Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. Omar by this statement and by continuing to be the Minister in the NDA Government had impliedly exonerated him but people are yet to exonerate him. Omar had not explained why he continued to be the Minister even when Ram Vilas Paswan left the Government but had now said that Modi is playing divisive politics and can't lead the nation. The Chief Minister had also referred to an incident where Modi had allegedly refused to wear a skull cap given by a Muslim to the Gujarat Chief Minister. The same CM had also never sung a devotional song at any religious function in a manner his father and Union Minister Farooq Abdullah would do like he did at a function of Asa Ram Bapu in Jammu and also he reverentially would perform darshan at Mata Vaishno Devi. CM is taking things selectively to demonize Modi more to appease his friend in the Congress rather than for political conviction as he had reportedly also opened channels of communications with the BJP. The only justification given by the Omar Abdullah till now for remaining a Minister in the Vajpayee Government is that his resignation was not accepted by the PM. By the same logic, the people of the Gujarat had also exonerated for any implied sins by voting him to power twice after the riots. Not only that he had also not been implicated by the judiciary. It seems that Omar is not believing in judiciary totally but rather is playing politics even divisive politics by raking up communal riots which had been almost forgotten by the people. Omar is deliberately raking up communal issues and also separatists issues like autonomy just for the petty political gains though he himself didn't do any thing while being in power on this account. |
