Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 1: Security forces including local police today launched a massive search cum combing operation in Ghati forest of Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir after reported movements of some armed suspected militants in the area. According to reports from Kathua a civilian reported the police that he has sighted some unidentified persons in the Jakhole area of Ghati a few kms from the main township of Kathua. "After getting information from locals about the movement of some suspects, the police and others security agencies launched search operation in Ghatti forest belt of district Kathua, a senior Police officer said. He said the search operation started at around 10:00 am this morning to ascertain the information. He, however, ruled out the news reports about the killing of two militants and said that search and combing operation is going on. During the search operation, Jammu-Pathankote National Highway remained close for vehicular traffic as a precautionary measure for nearly one hour and later traffic allowed. The combing operation comes two days after three armed militants of suicide squad of terrorists (fidayeens) who struck on army unit in Janglote of Kathua were killed by troops after they had killed three persons, including two civilians, and injured four people on Friday. Meanwhile searches were also conducted on Sunday (March 30) in, following rumors of spotting of two suspects at Sallan village in Hiranagar. After some villagers spotted movement of suspected militants in the Sallan village in Hiranagar, the security forces and police launched a massive search operation in Sallan Village at wee hours of morning which continued till 5:30 pm. |
