| Police cracks blind murder case, accused held | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 19: Police today claimed to have cracked a blind murder case wherein a youth was found murdered on May 14 in Dogra Hall locality with the art on one person. Flanked with his team the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Atul Jain while addressing a press conference said that the body of the deceased identified as that of S Narinder Singh s/o Jagbir Singh of Gandhi Nagar Jammu was found dead under mysterious circumstances with some injury marks on the neck following which a case under FIR no. 79/2014 u/s 302 of RPC was registered at Pacca Danga police station. "After registering a case, the police started investigation in this matter, he said adding, "though the family members and kins have staged protest demanding the early arrest of accused.' Senior Police officer said that during the course of investigation police came across CCTV footage of the deceased and another person at Ashoka Bar between 2230 hrs and 2300 hrs. "Taking a lead from the CCTV footage, the police team after strenuous efforts, was able to track down the unknown accomplice of the deceased on the fateful night, he added. "The accused person has been identified as Suresh Kumar alias Munna of Dhok Paloura", said police officer. He further said that after identification the suspect was picked up and put on sustained interrogation during which he confessed to have committed the murder of the deceased using an abandoned clutch-wire used in 2-wheelers. "The accused revealed that he strangulated the deceased after they had an altercation over a trivial issue, SSP Jammu said and added, "besides the weapon of offence the clutch-wire used to commit the murder as well as the cell phone of the deceased has also been recovered at the instance of the accused.' Further investigations in the case are on and efforts are afoot to pin down any further motives/ accomplices (if any) in the commission of the crime. |
