Srinagar, May 19: After days of stoic silence following historic rout of the National Conference in the just concluded Lok Sabha polls, Party's top leadership has started the autopsy of its defeat with party MLAs coming under sharp attack from senior Abdullah who had to eat a humble pie at NC's bastion of Srinagar.
Sources said that as Farooq Abdullah was not meeting anybody since May 16 when results of Parliamentary elections were declared, he today called all Srinagar based MLA's including Ali Mohammad Sagar of Khnyar constituency, Mubarak Gul of Eidgah, Shameema Firdous of Habakadal, Mustafa Kamaal of Hazratbal and Mohammad Yaseen Shah of Sonawar and asked for reasons to concerned MLA's for diminishing popularity of NC in their respective areas and reasons of PDP making inroads in these areas.
"Farooq Abdullah talked tough to city based MLAs for party's diminishing support from NC bastions and held concerned MLAs responsible for his defeat on Srinagar-Budgam Parliamentary constituency. In an angry tone he asked them to work hard ahead of forthcoming Assembly elections," sources said.
All the core group members, particularly Farooq Abdullah according to the sources expressed surprise for overwhelming response to PDP in traditional NC areas within Srinagar City and asked Party leaders to use all means and measures which include government job packages for Youth in particular to win back hearts of people.
Sources said that though Farooq Abdullah did not talk directly, he did not hide his unhappiness with Omar Abudullah too. Sources said that Party patron advised its leadership to introspect and come up with feedback of recent defeat to NC candidates from all the District, Tehsil and Block levels and added that today's meeting was part of an introspection meeting for Srinagar district.
"Farooq Abdullah is much worried for his own defeat at the hands of Tariq Hameed Qarra rather than Mehboob Beg who was defeated by PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti and Sharif-ud-din Shariq who was defeated by Muzaffar Hussain Beigh and is curious to know reasons for his defeat," sources added.
Sources said as the meeting was attended by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also but he allowed other senior colleagues of his party to talk and suggest remedial measures to come out from the current situation.
