Srinagar, May 19: The Crime Branch of Police has identified two more beneficiaries of multi-crore cash-for-paper scam of Common Entrance Test 2012 even as it has arrested as many accused persons. As the hearing in the suo-moto PIL started today, the Crime Branch apprised a division bench comprising Chief Justice M M Kumar and Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar about progress made after March 20, when it filed last status report. In the latest status report, the Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK) informed the court that special anti-corruption judge Kashmir has issued orders for attachment of property of seven accused persons. Furthermore, the property details of one more person Altaf Hussain Shah of Kishtwar, has been obtained by CBK and trial court has been requested to initiate process under section 88 CrPC against him as well. "Efforts are on to trace out and arrest the accused absconders which could be reinforced now as the bulk of the CBK staff was busy with parliamentary election duties which is now over and accordingly additional manpower has been pressed into service to locate these absconding accused persons," the CBK said. As per the directions of High Court on March 20, CBK said, the details of two candidates whose name were submitted to the court in a sealed cover for having managed admission fraudulently have been forwarded to BOPEE on May 7 for further necessary action. "Meanwhile, with the availability of call record details and other evidence, two more candidates Hina Saleem and Omar Manzoor Sheikh were found to be involved in obtaining the question papers in advance and getting selected," the CBK said. The Crime Branch further said that two more persons, Mohammad Saleem Mir and Naresh Paditha have been arrested and are in judicial custody on remand. "The supplementary chargesheet against these four candidates and other accused is being filed shortly for judicial determination." As result of this, the total number of beneficiary candidates who have been recommended to BOPEE for action has gone upto 25 and the number of accused persons arrested and behind bars is 22. "This would also be very appropriate to add here that investigation agency with availability of a few more CDRs and other circumstantial evidence has been able to lay hands on one name involved in the sale of question papers and it is being further probed and once the evidence is collected, same would be shared with this court." |
