Lucknow, May 19: Veteran Congress leader and former Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand chief minister N D Tewari, who tied the knot with the mother of his biological son Rohit Shekhar on May 14, today got his marriage registered at the registry office here.The 88-year-old leader, went to the registry office along with his wife Ujjwala Sharma and staff members, completed all formalities related to the marriage to give it a legal status within a couple of hours.
While Arun Shukla was the witness for N D Tiwari, Rajeev Kumar did the same for Ujjawala.
Mr Tewari had surprised everyone by marrying Ms Sharma in a simple ceremony at his Mall Avenue residence here on May 14 in presence of select people including close family members.
This was the second marriage of Tiwari after a gap of 60 years. The marriage was held with full tradition and the bride wore the family 'chadar' over her red Benarasi saree.
Sharma, said that they were in relationship for over 40 years, but this marriage and registery will give them a social sanctity.
"I am not a newly wedded wife as we are associated for a long time and even have a 36 year old son," she said, announcing that she plans for a big reception and a honeymoon very soon.
But the couple's son Rohit Shekhar was not present during the marriage function.
Tiwari, also looked happy, and said that it was a long cherished dream that was fulfilled now.
