| Non redressal of their basic issues resulted into alienation of nomads votes | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 19: Expressing concerns over the recent defeat of coalition candidate from Udhampur -DodaLok Sabha seat, the National General Secretary of National Conference (ST Cell) and State Advisory Board member J&K Govt today there has been great resentment among nomads against the Govt for failing to redress their issues which caused alienation among the community. While addressing a press conference at Press Club Jammu Ch Salam Din appealed to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Former Union Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah and Gujjar Leader MianAltaf to call an emergency meeting of the Gujjar and Bakerwal to take up their burning problems. "During the present election Gujjar and Bakerwal has cast 99% their votes in favour of Coalition Govt which has also been seconded by Ghulam Nabi Azad, he said while alleging, "some of MLA and MLC have also cast their valued votes to RSS." He also said all the Gujjar and Bakerwals of erstwhile Gujjars of Doda has great resentment against the government as basic needs of the Gujjars and Bakerwals have not been redressed during the last 5 years following which some of Gujjars withdrew from the party or otherwise some have withdrawn. "There about 1,30,000 Gujjars voters in erstwhile Gujjars of Doda, he said and alleged "it is suspected that some stalwarts of the party are misguiding the High command of the party whereas basically it is not fact. ST Cell appealed to Party High command that emergency meeting with the Gujjars and Bakerwals to be conducted on district and block so that their burning problems be shared with Gujjar voters so that the vote bank of party may not further alienate. He also sought representation in Council/ NC Mandate toGujjar and Bakerwal in the forthcoming assembly elections.
