Jammu, May 19: Following the Army foiled an infiltration bid on Sunday, the troops today during a search operation at the site where one jawan was killed and other two received injuries during cross border firing recovered 'Pakistan made landmines' along with night vision equipment and some food items along the Line of Control (LoC) in Khour area of Akhnoor. According to Defence sources, a search operation was carried out by Army in the area where a trooper was killed and two other received injuries after a land mine explosion and cross border firing yesterday in Nathu Tibba area of Keri in Khour of Akhnoor Sector.Sources said that that so far around five landmines have been recovered from the area, besides other equipments including a Night Vision device and a bag containing some food items during searches on Monday along the Line of Control (LoC) in Khour area of Akhnoor. "There are apprehensions that taking advantage of topography of area, the intruders have planted landmines to give a blow to Army patrol party along the fence, sources said.Sharing details of the incident PRO Defence Jammu said, "In an incident near Akhnoor on yesterday a patrol of the Army was targeted by mines and small arms fire by a group of unidentified armed personnel." Own troops retaliated effectively and the group fled back across the LoC towards Pakistan Army post, he said. "And Indian troops carried out search operation in the area and recovered the above mentioned assorted items, he said further underlining, "the recovery of Pakistan made landmines and other items suggest involvement of Pakistan and terrorists from across the Line of Control." "Search operations are in progress till the last report came in, he added. |
