JAMMU, May19: A deputation of people of different villages including Bain Bajalta, Tutein Di Khui, Aithem, Kana Chadgal, Sarah, Pargalta, Sandi, Dhoon led by State General Secretary Bahujan Samaj Party Rakesh Wazir met Chief Engineer PDD Shehnaz Goni.
The deputation expressed resentment against issuing of flat rate electricity bills and for not installing new meters instead of old ones.
Wazir while speaking to the Chief Engineer said that the villagers have no objection to the installation of meters but those should be installed by the department on the pattern of Jammu city and Kashmir and the poor people should not be forced to buy the meters on their own and install them that too of the domestic connections which are even more than 30-40 years old. The villagers said that different yard sticks have been adopted by the department in different areas in this connection. Chief Engineer Shehnaz Goni listened the deputation patiently and gave on spot instructions that the flat rate bills be taken back for those people whose meters are working properly. |
