Cold response to Yasin Malik's 'Quit Kashmir' campaign
Paying no heed, people spent day on outings at tourist spots

Srinagar, June 23 : In what can reflect separatist leader Yasin Malik's popularity on wane and hold over masses' sentiment which commanded well in the past also fizzling out, his call for strike drew complete flak today with people choosing to attend 'better' things to spend the day. Instad of wasting time staying indoors, people utilized it as a day of outings at tourist spots and nearest health resorts, giving a slap on the face of separatists in general and Malik in particular. As self styled chairman of Jammu and Kashmir liberation front (JKLF) Yaseen Malik had called for strike and threatened to launch 'quit Kashmir' campaign, however except precautionary restrictions in parts, majority lot of kashmiries paid no heed to quit Kashmir call. Despite creating lot of hiding drama from last two days, self styled JKLF chairman, Yaseen Malik was today arrested by police from Srinagar's Maisuma area along with his paid party workers who tried to proceed towards Lal Chowk as JKLF had called for a march to Lal Chowk and threatened to launch 'quit kashmir' campaign. According to reports received though shutdown was observed in Kashmir and government had placed precautionary restrictions in Lal Chowk and adjoining areas which include Maisuma, Kothi Bagh and Kralkhud areas and had placed restrictions on all the entry and exit points, however life in other parts of Srinagar and rest of Kashmir remained normal. The details reveal that tourist resorts falling within Srinagar District which include Nishat, Shalimar, Harvan, Nehru Park, Dal Lake, tulip Garden, fore shore road, Botanical garden etc remained abuzz with people whole day, besides private traffic was plying on roads normally within Srinagar city and no reports of violence was reported from any part of Srinagar. Reports received from central Kashmir's Budgam, Ganderbal and Baramullah, Kupwara and Bandipora of North Kashmir reveal that no stiffness in strike was seen today as people did not paid any heed to quit kashmir call of JKLF. The details received from South Kashmir's Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam and shopian reveal that tourist resorts falling in these Districts which include Pahalgam, Acahabal, verinag, Kokernag of Anantnag, Aharbal of Kulgam and Mughal road and Peer Ki Gali resorts of Shopian witnessed huge rush people who had come from Srinagar and other parts of kashmir, besides thousands of tourists coming from outside kashmir also witnessed these tourist resorts today and ignored the quit Kashmir call of JKLF altogether. The details also reveal that except the arrest of paid JKLF workers, no reports of violence was today received from any part of kashmir in connection with quit kashmir call of JKLF. Pertinently JKLF chief Yaseen Malik had called for a march to launch the 'Quit Kashmir' campaign today as JKLF few days back had announced that it would start 'Quit Kashmir' movement to seek attention of the international community's on Kashmir and shift their focus from the debate over Article 370 of the Indian Constitution which has been started by Bhartiya Janata party recently.
