| Scared separatists oppose KPs return plan | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 23: The separatists have decided to disturb Central Governments plan on the return of the Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley. They are planning to rake up public opinion in the Valley against the plan by terming it as anti-Kashmir. The hint of the things to come was given by the separatist hardliner Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani when he said that the move to allot special land for building place for the KPs is aimed at changing the demographic profile of Kashmir. This was the same argument used by hardliners when they opposed the transfer of land to Amarnath Board for constructing infrastructure to facilitate yatris. The issue was illogically blown out of proportion resulting in deaths and bringing state to the brink of disintegration. The same logic is being applied now also with the same intention and for fomenting same kind of trouble so as to sabotage the plan. According to sources in the intelligence services, the separatists do not want to revert the even presumed composite culture of the Kashmir. They had systematically killed it by engineering exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits with an aim to make it a homogenous society. They also fear that if KPs are settled then Punjabi Hindus, who were state subject holders and a business community will also settle there. And eventually seeing the trend the people of the Jammu region will also start constructing homes there; in the manner people of the Kashmir have homes in the Jammu. The separatists view it could unsettle their plan and for this reason they are saying the KPs should live with them instead of special zone, implying that they should live in places surrounded by majority community so that they always live in an atmosphere of fear and not to speak against them. |
