| Gastroenterology lecturer locks up colleague's room in Super-speciality hospital | | One-upmanship on full display! | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jun 23: In what could be termed as high-handedness and brute misuse of caste based affinity with Minister for Medical Education, Dr. Showkat Choudhary has locked room where another senior doctor Dr. Vijyant Chandail used to attend to the patients in the Super-Speciality hospital.
This has resulted in Dr. Vijyant Chandail being forced to attend to the patients in the room of Endocrinologist, which is opposite to the room where Chandail used to attend to the patients prior to being locked by Dr. Showkat Choudhary, who according to sources enjoys close proximity with Medical Education Minister.
Such is the high-handedness of Dr. Choudhary that despite Dr. Chandail making several verbal requests to the Principal and other higher authorities, no one has been able to bring back sanity of purpose in the super-speciality hospital. Things have been going from bad to worse but it has made no difference to the attitude and style of working of Dr. Showkat Choudhary is what doctors are saying.
They further maintain that both Dr. Showkat Choudhary and Dr. Vijyant Chandail are lecturers but Dr. Choudhary has been ruling the roost for his connections with the Minister for Medical Education. Sources disclose that Dr. Showkat Choudhary has got promoted as Assistant Professor but since someone has taken the case to the court of law, he remains a lecturer and at equi-parity with Dr. Chandail.
Despite this, Dr. Choudhary is doing whatever pleases him in the super-speciality hospital, said the sources. They added that this high-handedness has resulted in gastroenterological patients being made to suffer for no fault of theirs. Sources disclosed that the department of Gastroenterology was shifted from Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital to super-speciality just to ensure that it is headed by Dr. Showkat Choudhary, presently a lecturer.
They added that once Choudhary's dream is fulfilled, Dr. Vijyant Chandail would have no option but to continue in the Department of Medicine, something where he has no specialisation. Besides, Dr. Showkat Choudhary is doing this with an aim to boost his private practice which he does religiously immediately after leaving the hospital premises, said the sources. |
