| Consider their demand of job absorption at earliest: DSA-JK to Govt | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 23: Dental Surgeons Association- Jammu and Kashmir (DSA-JK) urged state government to address the grievances of the Dental Surgeons community at the earliest warning that otherwise the association members would have no option other than taking to the streets. Addressing a press conference here today at Press Club of Jammu, representatives from Dental Surgeons Association Jammu Kashmir (DSA-JK) urged the state government especially Chief minister Omar Abdullah to address the grievances of the Dental Surgeons community at the earliest. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Asif Iqbal Chowdhary President DSA-JK said that DSA-JK is becoming a mass movement to fight out for the cause of dental surgeons of the state. Speaking to media persons, president of association Dr. Asif Iqbal Chowdhary said that more than 1300 unemployed dental surgeons were in the state and every year more than 300 dentists were adding to this huge number which is the cause of great concern as they are not absorbed since 2008. "From the last 6 years there has been no fresh recruitment of dental surgeons in the state", he stated. He said that on the one hand Prime Minister of India was talking about the skill development of the youth and on the other side the potential of already skilled workers and human resources in the form of dental surgeons was not utilized and their future was sinking in dark. "The government is only interested in developing the infrastructure in the form of big buildings but the manpower which can run these institutions are not engaged", he maintained. "Chief Minister Omar Abdullah claims that he has changed 180 degree" he said and adding "We urge CM that he should embrace this forgotten lot of dental surgeons and utilize their services for the betterment of the state as he has promised in the meeting on May 27, 2014 at his official residence." Referring to bleak future of higher studies in state, he said, "There are three Govt Dental Colleges in the state and only 12 seats of MDS which include 8 seats in general category and 4 seats in reserved category (which is in Govt. Dental College Srinagar) forcing dental surgeons aspiring higher studies to go out of the state. Speakers reiterated the demand of separate directorate of dentistry like Himachal Pradesh so that grievances and issues of dental surgeons may be conceded to. They said despite their two meetings with Health Minister TajMohi-u-Din nothing fruitful has come yet. They said government should come out with positive policies for absorption of Dental Surgeons by any means within one week otherwise we the Dental Surgeons of state have no options other than to come to the streets. |
