Jammu, Sept 25 : It may sound strange but it is a fact that despite an order of the concerned minister, Power Development Department (PDD) has not sanctioned electricity connection to six families of Karini Talab near Narwal Bala here. A resident of Karini Talab, pleading anonymity, informed Early Times that the power Minister ordered PDD over one and a half year back to provide Power connections to them but surprisingly it had so far only made a proposal in this regard. "The minister had forwarded letter to PDD Executive Engineer, Gandhi Nagar, to look into the families' demand. The letter was forwarded by him to AEE, Green-Belt Park, to inspect the site and submit proposal for doing the needful", he said. Finally, PDD JE Deepak Sharma visited the site and made the proposal, in which the requirement material list includs four electric poles and other materials. The report was submitted on March 4, 2013 to the XEn, Gandhi Nagar office, but astoundingly the department has done nothing as not a single person of department visited this site again. "We met the PDD officials many times but despite assurances nothing has been done to solve our problem," another resident said and added that when he build house few years back he thought he would get electricity connection very soon. "I still dream of buying a fridge," he added. He said that due to non- availability of electricity, all especially women were facing problems particularly in summer. "In absence of electricity, we people are facing difficulties of water lifting. Children are also unable to concentrate on studies", he said. When contacted, PDD XEn, Gandhi Nagar, Arvind Siber said, "I joined a few months back but I will look into the matter and provide the power connection to the six families." |
