| GANG OF THREE|| Using tragedy as an anti-India opportunity | | | Neha JAMMU, Sept 25: Separatist and sectarian Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik, who didn't do anything for the flood-affected of Kashmir valley during all these days of the tragedy and who didn't see eye to eye with each other, have suddenly ganged up against the Indian State. They have ganged up against the Indian State which has been doing all that it could since September 8 to mitigate the hardships of the flood-affected people and what it has been doing is not a secret; everything is in public domain. They have joined hands to play a mischief against India. Their whole objective, it appears, is to lower the position of the Indian State in the eyes of the international community by creating an impression that the authorities in the Indian State have left the Kashmiri people to the care of anarchy or that it has been willfully ignoring the suffering people of the Valley. Notwithstanding the fact that they continue to operate from their own respective platform, they are speaking the same language. They are seeking international intervention in the state so that the flood-affected people in the Valley are rehabilitated. Mirwaiz, who remained in his safe hide out for more than 10 days, has urged Iran and other Muslim countries to help Kashmir and Kashmiri Muslims. Malik, who escaped his death by seeking the Army support, has appealed to the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) to come to the rescue of the ravaged Kashmir valley. And Geelani, who also sought and got the Army help to save his life, has appealed to the international community to come forward and help him rehabilitate Kashmir. The shameless and ungrateful Geelani has even gone to the extent of saying that "India is occupying Jammu and Kashmir with the help of its military might so it is their responsibility to compensate the flood-affected people for their losses and rehabilitate them as soon as possible" and that "the failure of the Government machinery and delay in the rehabilitation works is giving an impression that the Government is either not in a position to do it or they don't want to do it". "And if they are not in a position to do that, they should issue me my travel documents so that I can collect donations in foreign countries and help my people to start a new life and compensate their losses…By helping the flood victims Government is not going them any favor because 'India is looting the natural resources of Jammu and Kashmir for last six decades and collects huge taxes' from the same traders and shopkeepers who were affected by recent floods," he also said on Wednesday. So, one thing is common in what the gang of three is saying: Allow help from foreign countries, particularly the Muslim world. Their intention is not noble. Theirs is an evil intention. They want to tell the international community that the Kashmiri Muslims just cannot depend on the Government of India because, they believe, that New Delhi is anti-Kashmir and anti-Kashmiri Muslim. All this should not surprise anyone. After all, they are desperately seeking to restore the lost space, which is not going to happen, as they stand totally exposed in the eyes of the Kashmiri people. What is disturbing is the fact that opinion-makers in Kashmir have been keeping their mouth shut and not saying a single word against this gang of three. |
