| Govt. faces trust deficit in relief distribution | | Victims appeal Centre to supervise | | | JAMMU, Sept 25 : Dissatisfied with distribution of relief by State Government and apprehending misuse of the same, various organizations have appealed the Union Government to take the relief distribution in its own hands or handover the same to Army or security forces. The flood victims have totally lost confidence in State Government and its administrative machinery and they apprehend misappropriation of funds as well as relief meant for flood victims. Alleging that the Government has lost its credibility, sources said that various social organizations from the State have also written letters to Union Government to distribute the relief through its agencies or the Army. Muslim Morcha BJP chief Mushtaq Noorabadi has already expressed his apprehensions about the mishandling of relief by State Government saying that the officers will deprive the deserving and affected people and make recommendations for their favourities. There will be no transparency in the same in case the relief is distributed through State Government agencies, he added. Peoples Welfare Society Ganderbal has also demanded that the relief material to the flood victims be given through Central Government agencies or through voluntary social organizations which have a dedicated team of activists involved inactive service of society. Society chairman and veteran trade Unionist Mir Ghulam Rasool has stressed on maintaining transparency in relief distribution by considering the actual victims and sufferers. He said that there are apprehensions that the maximum funds will go in the coffers of ruling alliance or bureaucrats. He appealed the Union Government to maintain a complete vigil on the same so that the deserving people are not deprived of the same. These feelings were not expressed by the people and social organizations in Kashmir Valley only but in Jammu also. All India backward Classes Union president Abdul Majid Malik while expressing apprehensions about pilferage in relief material by State Government ahs also demanded that the same be distributed by the Central Government agencies or army. The Union in a statement issued today has said that it has totally lost confidence in the functioning of State Government which is working against the cause of common masses in the State. |
