| JKGBTI slams Govt for ignoring miseries of nomadic community | | | Jammu, Sept 25: Expressing concerns over mismanagement in relief distribution, the Jammu and Kashmir Gujjar and Bakerwal Tehreek-e-Insaaf (JKGBTI), today criticized the state administration for not reaching to remote places and Gujjar and Bakerwal nomadic community are still deprived of relief, compensation and rehabilitation who have lost their homes and lively stock during the flash floods in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir State. While addressing the press conference at Nek Hotel, JKGBTI President Mohammad Aslam Kohli accused the government of being biased against nomadic community who still serving their life in open sky and state administration has completely fails to address their plights. He further demanded that relief assistance should be distributed by the central team or Indian Army as the people especially the Gujjar community who has lost their faith in the state administration so far as they have distributed relief assistance among their faithful party workers and ignoring the genuine flood affected victims. Lambasting the state government for being indifferent to the plights of general masses, he said that the district administration has to assess the loss suffered by the nomads, who have been left at the mercy of Almighty. He added that situation is alarming in the upper reaches where nomads have been left homeless and winter is at hands yet they are without any assistance from the government. He demanded that the relief and rehabilitation work should be carried on war footings in order to provide timely relief to the affected community families, especially in view of the approaching winter season. "The government should immediately dispatch its official teams in the upper reaches of the state so that the loss suffered by community people could be assessed and affected people could be rehabilitated at the earliest, he added. Meanwhile he appreciated role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the natural calamity who had announced huge package for the relief and rehabilitation of flood hit victims. He also hailed Indian Army and NDRF team for rescuing lakhs of people trapped in flood hit areas of the state. He further demanded that relief assistance should be distributed by the central team or Indian Army as the people especially the Gujjar community who has lost their faith in the state administration so far as they have distributed relief assistance among their faithful party workers and ignoring the genuine flood affected victims. |
