Jammu, Sept 27: At a time when inflation has crossed all previous limits, nearly 30 employees working at Sub District Hospital RS Pura are without salaries and are forced to work overtime to wing bread and butter for their families.
The Health and Medical Education department has failed to release the funds, from where the salary of these employees is drawn.
Sources informed Early Times that around30 employees including Doctors and Class IV have been working in Sub District Hosptial (SDH) RS Pura but were without salaries since June 2014.
An employee of SDH RS Pura said that in the month of May, they were given four months' salary and once again three months have elapsed and they were without salary and have been managing their family affairs on loan.
"Whenever we inquire about delay in release of salary with higher officials, they assure us that the matter has been taken-up with Government and pending dues will be cleared as early as possible", he said, and rued that despite repeated assurances, nothing has been done in favour of employees.
"The delay on part of Government to release the salary has created lot of problems for us", said another female employee, adding that she was unable to meet her household expenses and even the grocery store has refused to lend her items on credit.
Another employee said that he could not afford school fee of his children and the school administration has warned to expel his children, if dues were not paid immediately.
Castigating the State Government, the employees said that they were appointed on SDH RS Pura few years back, but state government has failed to pay their pending dues.
"I belong to a very poor family in Ariena, and I have to spend Rs 60 daily on transportation and food, it has become very difficult for me to meet my requirements in the absence of salary", in dismayed voice, a class IV employee said.
Block Medical Officer (BMO) RS Pura Dr. Desh Raj Bhagat said that the State planning and development department had not approved 10 percent plan allocation to their department due to which salaries were not given to employees.
When government released 10 percent fund, they released the salaries of employees.
