| Centre to probe infrastructural loses | | | Jammu, Sept 27: Center is likely to hold an inquiry into the causes for the washing of large scale roads and bridges and other infrastructure. The Centre is looking into the aspect if the sub-standard materials were used in raising the infrastructures. "Infrastructure worth hundreds of crores of rupees got washed away. And in some cases the recently made roads couldn't withstand the rains and slides for some hours. It needs to be looked into ," said a senior official in the Centre. The maximum damage has been done in the Jammu division especially in the hilly districts, which were not flooded for days together like in the Kashmir divison. "If the peoples' structure in Srinagar could withstand for about 20-day even being in water then what is the reason that infrastructures made by the government couldn't withstand for few days. ." Said the official. Most of these infrastructures were built by financial assistance from the Centre, more so during the Cong led UPA government, the fact spoke loudly by all the Congress ministers. The reason for this likely inquiry is also on account of the fact, that these infrastructures were built in the remote areas, which were away from administrative and public glare. " It's also fact that J&K is the most corrupt state and this angle can't be ruled out in the alleged weak and inferior build up of the infrastructure," said the official. |
