| Labourers stage protest against autocratic GREF’s attitude | | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Sept 27: Over two hundred labourers engaged with General Reserve Engineering Force (GREF) today held a strong protest against the autocratic attitude of the 118 RCC GREF Kishtwar and particularly against 2IC. All the agitating laborers assembled at Forest Check Post point Dool and held a strong protest for more than three hours and block Kishtwar-Padder-Himachal National Highway for more than three hours. After protest, the laborers observed "Tool down" by all the workers in Dool and Galhar sector. The agitating workers demanded immediate revocation of suspension of workers President Daleep Kumar who was expelled by the senior officials for raising genuine demands of the laborers. They allege that the GREF authorities are flouting all the labor laws at his own will. They said that as and when any labourer raise voice against sub standard work executed by the GREF through its middle men, they showed him the doors. They allege that the officials were involved in illegal sale of material including cement, Diesel and petrol through these middle men. They said that no bonus or any other monetary benefits were given to the laborers since last so many years. They said that all the laborers put their lives at risk while working in most dangerous terrains, as authorities did not provide them safety equipments. They said that their protest will continue until and unless their demands will be fulfilled. Among the prominent who speak on this occasion include Bansi Lal, Rashid Hussain. Mohammad Hussain Gujjar, Nazir Gujjar and others. PDP Youth President Mohammad Umar Malik also extended his support to the agitating laborers and joined them in today's protest. |
