Jammu, Sept 27 : Second Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu, M K Sharma has rejected the bail application of Labha Ram who was facing trial in a dowry death case. According to the case, the accused was sent to trial by Khour police station in FIR NO 24/2014 for the commission of offences under section 306/498-A of RPC with the allegations that Ranu Choudhary who was married to Labha Ram in September, 2012 and ever since the marriage, the accused along with co-accused Shilo Devi, her mother-in-law, and Suman Devi, sister-in-law, used to harass her for want of dowry and this persistent torture of the deceased in the hands of the accused forced her to commit suicide and after investigation police presented challan against all the accused in the court of law. The judge, after hearing the two sides, observed that the evidence against the accused is fiendish in nature and the offices against the women are on rise and concession of bail to the perpetrators of such like crimes will shake the confidence of the general public and in the present case a young bride of 25 years who was yet to see many springs of her life has lost her life and the case is at initial stage and evidence is yet to be recorded. With these observations, the court rejected the bail application of the husband of the deceased. JNF |
