| "Schools remain closed in Khawas zone" | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Sept 27 : Sarpanches , panches and other inhabitants of Khawas, Keri and Gunda villages that fall under Khawas education zone have alleged that maximum schools in their area either remain closed or have been facing acute shortage of teaching staff. Many middle and primary schools open for a few days only in a month and that too when teachers wish and about 80 per cent women teachers rarely attend their duties. Recently some master grade teachers were transferred to this zone but majority of them by using their political influence have managed their duties in the schools falling near main road or in the areas they belong to. People also alleged that most of the schools in their area are either running without sanctioned strength of teaching staff or are closed since the end of summer vacations. Primary schools at Nandhola, Keri Daraman and Reet are closed for the last many days as teachers don't come there, they alleged. People said that matter has been taken up several times with Khawas ZEO Sahab Din but nothing has been done till today despite the facts that he had visited these schools. When contacted, SahabDin said that there is acute shortage of teaching staff in Khawas education zone and that is the main reason that some schools are having one or two teachers who don't bother to attend their duties. Another reason is that the women teachers avoid to go to school on one or other pretext. Middle school at Markanar is being run by 2 teachers out of 5 posted there. Two teachers have been attached with middle school at Salole as theschool was on the verge of closing in the absence of any teacher.Third teacher was appointed Cluster Resource Person (CRP) and despite directions that for three days CRP has to attend the school, he never comes to the school. Middle school at Panjnara has three teachers. There are only while third, Ekta Rani a ReT teacher, was attached with government high school at Khawas in violation of rules and regulations. When contacted, CEO Lal Hussain said that Ekta is MSc teacher and her services were required at high school and attachment was made temporarily and soon she will be sent back to her original place of posting. He added that ZEO has been directed to adjust a teacher in place of Ekta. Kesar Din, panch and Baji Abdul Wazir sarpanch, Goonda said that most of the government schools in Khawas Zone are without adequate teaching staff and primary school at Keri mostly remain closes as the teacher attend their duties only during pay days. One teacher is looking after the affairs of primary school at Reet in Kot Chalwal. This school also mostly remains closed. As all these schools fall in far flung areas and officers concerned don't bother to visit these areas" said Baji Abdul Wahid. Abdul Aziz , panch of Panjnara village said that most of the schools at Khawas,Gunda, Odhan, Motan, Lambi Bandi, Daruni, Lower Odhan etc don't have sanctioned staff and are being run by 2-3 teachers. Pertinent to mention here that most of the government schools in Khawas Education Zone are situated in tough terrains and inaccessible areas and maximum teachers in these areas avoid to attend their duties as they know that senior officers never visit these schools.Sources alleged that many teachers in the zone were getting salaries without any duty and had been running their businesses. |
