Immunization picks pace, 6.5 lakh vaccinations performed

SRINAGAR, Sept 28: The immunization process initiated by the Health & Medical Education Department is in full swing as 6.5 lakh anti measeles vaccines have already been given and more vaccines are in the pipeline.
Vaccination has been completed in the districts of Shopian, Budgam and Ganderbal which were partially affected by the floods where as it is in full swing in Srinagar district.
It may be recalled the Minister for Health & Medical Education, Taj Mohi ud Din, who is personally supervising the resumption of health services in the Valley, had directed undertaking a vaccine offensive to minimize chances of any contagious disease or epidemic in the Kashmir Valley.
The vaccines are given to the children in the age group of 06 months to 15 years in flood affected areas with an additional dose of Polio drops and Vitamin A to the children of 06 months to five years of age.
