Devastation in Srinagar overshadows flood hit south Kashmir | 'Villages san drinking water, road connectivity, debris cleaning' | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 4: As recent floods equally caused devastation in hundreds of villages of South Kashmir and Srinagar, the administration has been focusing on Srinagar alone and nobody pays heed to the flood hit villages of South Kashmir's Pulwama, Kulgam and Anantnag Districts. Details received from south Kashmir's Pulwama District reveal that dozens of villages which include Sangam, Adijan, Gulzarpora, Beighpora, Sale, Chursoo, Lelhar, Hajibal, Badedrpora, Reshipora, Mohanviji, Hanjipora, Goripora, Vandakpora, Kanlibagh, Dangerpora, Padgampora, Awanitpora, Larkipora, Pohoo, Samboora, Kakpora, Lasjan, Pampore were badly hit floods and where besides human lives, flood completely or partially damaged houses, cow sheds, grainery stores, shops in lanes and by lanes, floods also washed away apple orchards and crops worth millions of rupees. However, flood hit villagers are still devoid of basic facilities like drinking water supply, road connectivity and electricity. "All government and non government agencies seem worried for Srinagar only, no doubt they suffered a huge loss but what about us, we too lost our everything, houses got collapsed, crop fields which were ready to fetch lakhs of rupees for us also got completely washed away, animals, stored grains, in short we lost everything so what is left with us except the name and hope with Almighty,"says Subzar Ahmad of Chursoo Village In South Kahsmir's Kulgam Distrcit where flash floods in Nallah Vashaw completely washed away four villages namely Kelam Gund, Zangalpora, Arigatnoo and Chambgund, besides it also caused major damage in over 50 other villages, people of the area after alleging state government of employing double standard with villages affected by floods and just focusing merely on Srinagar. They also alleged that all the non government agencies including separatists factions concentrate on Srinagar and ignore villages altogether. "Government and non government agencies want popularity in reward of their relief and rehabilitation mechanism which they can get in Srinagar only, nobody including Separatists too who are these posing as affectionate of people of Srinagar also never mind to help needy of villages."Said one Niyaz Ahmad of Kulgam People of the flood affected villages of Pulwama and Kulgam alike said that dozens of villages are still cut off from rest of world due to negligence of R&B department, besides flood debris and carcasses has made life like hell for people of the flood affected villages and concerned government department is not ready to even help villagers to find dumping site and provide transportation to remove dead animals and debris. According to reports dozens of villages of south Kashmir's Anantnag district also lack administrative attention and in the villages like Tulkhan of Bijbehara where 30 residential houses collapsed, 41in Subhanpora, 41, Kanjigund, 4 in Guree, 44 in Urnhal, 12 in Sethar, 4 in Halmula, 12 in Kaypora, 50 in Marhama, 17 in Arwani, 142 in Hasanpora Tawala, 7 in Laktipora, 2 in Poshateng, 25 in semthan, 20 in Hassan bagh and 40 in Jablipora Bijbehara,5 in Veeri, 6 in Laribal, 41in Tachhloo, 51 in Uranhal Bala, 10 in Urnhal payeen, 53in Kanjigund, 14 in Botengu, 74 in Showl, 36 in Sudsunu, 10 in Takia Bahramshah, 15 in Nowvathoo, 7 in Fathepora, 5 in Dahruna, 14 in Khandiphari, 8 in Khanabal, 3 in MehandiKadal, 13 in Anchidora, 6 in Qazi bagh,14 in JanglatMandi, 8 in Deva colony , 10 in Mirdantar, 3 in Hanjidantar, 7 in Armpora, 5 in MirgundKhanaba, 3 houses in Khood, 8 houses in Seepin, 5 in Batapora, 3 in Naibasti-Anantnag, 2 in Monghall ,5 in Roohu, 4 in Mati , 8 and 5 residential structures collapsed in Shergund and Aahoo areas of Shangus tehsil, people want rehabilitation from government on immediate bases so that they could make proper arrangements of living for themselves right before approaching of winter in Kashmir. |
