JAMMU, Oct 4 : A patwari was today caught red handed by vigilance organisation, Jammu, (VOJ) while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a man. Krishan Chand of Bakhana Chak, Samba, today approached VOJ with the complaint that Vipan Kumar, patwari of patwar halqa Durai, Samba, had allegedly demanded Rs 60,000 from him as illegal gratification for entering mutation of 2.5 marlas of land purchased by him at Mananu on Nud-Mansar Road. He alleged that the patwari later agreed to take Rs 40,000 in two instalments. Acting on his complaint, a VOJ team laid a trap and caught the patwari red handed while allegedly accepting the first instalment of Rs 20,000. A case under section 5(1) (d) of P C Act 2006 and 161 of RPC was registered against the accused at VOJ police station, a VOJ handout said, adding the accused was also taken into custody. The trap was laid under the supervision Nisha Natyal, SSP SK VOJ. The team was headed by DSP Zulfqar Ahmad and Inspector Rajesh Kumar. |
