Flood seals Ahsan’s opportunity to participate in second internationalSqay Championship

Srinagar, Oct 4: At a time when recent flood in Jammu and Kashmir took hundreds of lives, devastated public and Private Property worth Millions of rupees, it also prevented Ahsan-ul-Haq-Boda to
represent the country second time in an international sqay championship event.
International athlete Ahsan-ul-Haq-Boda son of Abdul Majeed Boda of South Kashmir’s shopian District who as per one order no 2547-52/SFI/14 dated 05/06/214 of Sqay Federation of India which is
affiliated with international council of Sqay organization of Asia was selected to represent India in an international sqay championship scheduled to be held at Srilanka.
According to Ahsan event was scheduled from 20 to 23 September, the same unfortunate days when Jammu and Kashmir in general and Kashmir in Particular was sinking in flood waters and like many scheduled government and non government programmes, functions and events were called off by the concerned, his long time cherished dream to represent country in an international event was washed away by the floods.
“It was a golden opportunity for me and I was ready to reach Hikkaduwa Srilanka on time and participate in the event, I wanted dto give my best and was hopeful to come up with second
international gold medal, but I believe Almighty had some other plans for me, ”says Boda
According to Ahsan’s guide, Tahir Hussain ‘Ahsan was one among the few lucky sqay players of the country selected by the federation on the basis of previous international and national achievements, let us hope and pray for his success and bright future.’
Ahsan has many achievements to his credit. He participated in an international sqay championship last year in Bagladesh and secured one gold medal from the event, besides in previous years Ahsan has also
won three gold medals while participating in national level tournaments held in Delhi, Goa and Maharashtra and with his success in Bangladesh and in the national level tournaments over the years,the gold medal tally of Ahsan has reached to five.
