Patients forced to wait for 'radio diagnostic' tests at DH Kathua | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Oct 4: Alleging mismanagement and lack of facilities locals and attendants of patients today said patients at District Hospital Kathua have to wait for weeks together for radio diagnostic tests courtesy lack of facilities and negligence of medical staff at the hospital. Speaking to media persons an attendant of patient Bindu Sharma alleged that medical services provided in Kathua District Hospital are so handicapped that patients have to face the brunt of lack of services. She said, "I have come with a patient who was directed to for an ultrasound test some days ago but after visiting many times the ultrasound could not be performed till date because of unauthorized absence of the ultrasound expert. "A long queue is permanent feature outside the 'ultrasound' cabin at District Hospital but only those who grease the palms of paramedical staff get the test done and line remains as it was," alleged Seema Devi another sufferer. She also alleged that we never find the doctor at his chair whenever we reach to access the prescribed ultrasound service in District Hospital of Kathua. When contacted the Superintendent Manoj Bhagat admitted that there is shortage of staff but the authorities are taking due care of interests of patients visiting hospital by making make shift arrangements. If anyone has suffered any inconvenience, we regret, he said adding, " we have informed higher authority about the situation and hope the same will take be addressed soon in near future." |
